🎭 The First Look Prank That Broke the Internet (Well…Almost)

We’ve seen a lot of first looks in our day, but Austin’s first look takes the cake. He stood there by the lake at The View at Spring Lake, anxiously waiting to see his beautiful bride.

But Caitlin wasn’t the one walking up behind him.

One of his groomsmen—decked out in a full wedding dress, veil and all—tapped Austin on the shoulder for the ultimate bait and switch. The reaction? Priceless. Austin spun around expecting to cry happy tears… and instead burst into full-on laughter. The entire wedding party (and our planning team) was in stitches.

One of the most fun and culturally meaningful moments of the day was the Chào Bàn tradition—a staple in many Vietnamese-American weddings. For those unfamiliar, this is when the bride and groom (often accompanied by their wedding party) visit each reception table to greet guests, collect red envelopes (known as lì xì), and share a toast.

The Bride and Groom take a moment at every table and visit with every guest… and yes, a shot at each stop to earn that envelope of well wishes and good fortune. By the end, Caitlin and Austin were living their best lives—cheered on by guests, dancing from table to table, and fully leaning into the love and tradition around them.

This mix of Southern charm and Vietnamese tradition was a perfect example of why we love multicultural weddings on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We believe every couple’s story should be honored authentically, with a dash of fun and a lot of heart.
